Resolve to Quit Smoking and Get Fresh Breath!

Thursday, February 9th, 2012

It hardly bears repeating, but we might as well say it again: Smoking is one of the most powerful causes of bad breath in existence. It’s not the most common reason we get oral odor – that title goes to the microbes in your mouth – but tobacco use can quickly trample your fresh breath into a smelly mess.

If your New Year’s resolution was to quit smoking, congratulations! The desire to give up tobacco is a good sign that you value your health and dislike constantly having halitosis. More than almost any other consumer product, cigarettes, cigars and chewing tobacco can really foul up the scent of your breath.

The American Dental Association certainly agrees, as this monolithic pronouncement from its website proves: “Tobacco products cause bad breath.” The agency recommends asking your dentist about ways to quit.

BLIS Probiotics Treat Bad Breath with an Army of Healthy Bacteria

Friday, December 2nd, 2011

If you’ve been wondering about the future of bad breath treatment, then look no further than TheraBreath’s BLIS Probiotics. These cutting-edge halitosis
therapies do what no other breath freshener can, which is to naturally limit your mouth’s ability to produce bad breath.

How do they do it? The key is a pair of carefully cultivated microbial strains that  gradually force odor-causing bacteria out of your mouth. This makes our probiotics the next generation in halitosis-fighting technology.

Here’s how it works.

Your mouth is brimming with bacteria, many of which are essentially harmless. According to the latest scientific estimates, you have more than 600 different species of microorganisms in your mouth, accounting for billions of individual bacteria.

A few of these species are real stinkers. Called anaerobic bacteria, they thrive in a
relatively dry environment. When your mouth gets parched, these microbes go to
town on the food particles on your tongue and between your teeth. They emit the
odor molecules that give halitosis its bad smell, and they also contribute to cavities and gum disease.

Here’s where BLIS Probiotics come in handy. Our probiotics products contain two healthy strains of bacteria, called Streptococcus salivarius M12 and K18. These species do two things that naturally limit your bad breath.

What are the Best Ways to Whiten Teeth, Freshen Breath?

Saturday, November 19th, 2011

There are many ways to improve your smile, but if you want to stick to the best ways to whiten teeth, then TheraBreath may have what you need. We manufacture a special tooth whitening kit that leaves all others in the dust.

Bleaching your teeth used to be a very expensive
process, one that involved thousands of dollars and multiple trips to the dentist’s office. In those days, clinicians had to make molds of your teeth, after which it typically took more than a week before the resulting mouthpiece was ready to be used.

Then you had to visit the dentist and sit in a chair
with peroxide-filled molds in your mouth for several hours. The bleaching agent was relatively mild then, meaning that it usually required more than one such trip in order to get whiter teeth.

These days, professional tooth bleaching has come a long way, and it is now one of the best ways to whiten teeth. But it’s not the only way. In fact, many people prefer doing their own bleaching at home, since it is cheaper and can be just as effective.

Here’s how to whiten your teeth quickly and safely. First, avoid tooth-whitening kits that involve strips or brush-on paste. The latter must dry out in order to work properly, and if you accidentally salivate while it’s setting, you can leave yellow patches on your pearly whites.

Likewise, strips will bleach the front and back of each tooth, but they cannot get into the crevices, which can leave your smile looking like it has brown grout between each tooth.

The solution is to use a TheraBrite PLUS home bleaching kit, which is one of the most effective ways to whiten teeth. Its customizable molds and special carbamide peroxide gels get all sides of your teeth looking as clean and bright as porcelain.

Can Gum Disease Make Conceiving More Difficult?

Wednesday, November 9th, 2011

Are you or a loved one trying to get pregnant? Then you’ll definitely want to read on…

ScienceDaily.com reports that at the annual meeting of the European Society of Human Reproduction and Embryology Professor Roger Hart stated the gum disease has as much a negative  impact on trying to conceive as obesity.  As we’ve previously stated, gum disease in pregnant women (or “pregnancy  gingivitis”) can result in a premature birth.

Periodontal disease (gum disease) has been linked with many types of illness: respiratory and kidney disease, type 2 diabetes, heart disease. However, this new report says that having gum disease prior to conception may make trying to get pregnant that much more difficult.

Professor Hart is the Professor of Reproductive Medicine at the University of Western Australia in Perth and Medical Director of Fertility Specialists of Western Australia. He stated, “Until now, there have been no published studies that investigate whether gum disease can affect a woman’s chance of conceiving, so this is the first report to suggest that gum disease  might be one of several factors that could be modified to improve the chances of pregnancy.”

Having Fresh Breath Doesn’t Have to Cost a Bundle

Wednesday, August 24th, 2011

If you are afflicted with bad breath, you may be willing to go to any length and spend any amount of money to fix it. However, having fresh breath doesn’t have to break the bank. Women’s Health published a list of fresh breath tips that won’t hurt your wallet. Most of them were fairly obvious and we are always suggesting the same solutions: brushing, flossing and rinsing with an alcohol-free mouthwash at least twice daily along with cleaning your tongue along with your teeth and the interior of your mouth.

The magazine did also include tips such as chewing sugar-free gum (to avoid dry mouth), eating a carbohydrate-heavy diet and drinking unsweetened tea. These suggestions might help reduce oral odor caused by the VSCs that thrive in your mouth and compounds in your blood stream.

Along with these helpful tips, we’d also like to suggest trying a sugar-free mint if gum isn’t your thing. Also, be sure to keep hydrated by drinking plenty of water each day. If you want to be proactive about the health of your mouth (and the smell of your breath) we’d like to suggest trying our Multi Symptom Probiotics which can introduce healthy and helpful bacteria into your oral cavity and thus fight of the odor causing bugs. It’s also important to see your dentist regularly to prevent any problems that could get expensive to treat.

Regardless of how much money you make, fresh breath doesn’t have to be something you can’t afford. Just make sure you choose the best products for the health of your breath and mouth and it will save you a bunch of dental bills in the long run.
