Garlic Breath and Onion Breath is Forbidden in Company Handbook

Monday, June 20th, 2011

Let’s face it; you spend a large amount of your time at work, surrounded by co-workers. If one or more of them has chronic bad breath, they can really be difficult to be around and work with. Even worse, it’s difficult to bring the subject up. What exactly do you do or say to this stinky mouthed person without hurting them or making things uncomfortable?

Well as we have discussed before in another post, you can send a virtual breath mint anonymously if you have their email address.  Just go here: http://www.therabreath.com/tellafriend.asp and let us tell them for you.

One Swiss company decided to take things even further and prevent bad breath. According to the UK Daily Mail, the global banking firm UBS Aktiengesellschaft, has banned halitosis in their employee handbook. Specifically, the UBS states in its employee code of conduct that onion breath and garlic breath are unprofessional and strictly prohibited. The response has been divided on this unique measure.

How Do You Tell Someone They Have Bad Breath?

Friday, October 29th, 2010

We all have them. That co-worker or friend that always wants to tell you a secret or talk about what he or she did this past weekend. The problem? Bad breath! The smell that makes you want to back away or plug your nose. But, of course, you can’t do that. After all, you have to see this person on a daily basis and you don’t want to seem mean and hurt anyone’s feelings.

So how do you get the message across?

Well, you can do things like offer a stick of gum or a mint – but this will get old fast and what if you don’t have any handy? (more…)

Don’t Let Bad Breath Blow Your Job Interview Away!

Wednesday, March 10th, 2010

bad breath job interview

According to studies, almost 50% of bosses said they wouldn’t hire someone if the candidate had poor teeth or bad breath.  Many have admitted that they turned down people because of their appearance.

High importance is placed on appearance at a job interview.  It is said that if a person is too lazy to look good and take care of their hygiene, they may be lazy when it comes to doing their actual job.

Some other things that made employers uninterested in hiring someone were tattoos, facial piercings, bad skin, and even excessive sweating.  Also found in the study, 15% of people seeking employment considered having cosmetic surgery to increase their chances of getting a job, and 3% have already gone through with the surgery.  The most popular types of cosmetic surgery were: cosmetic dentistry, breast implants, and facelifts.

Also, according to some cosmetic surgery specialists, 1/5 workers believe that their appearance has prevented them from going further in their careers.

Woman Gets $6,000 Fine For Beating Someone For Bad Breath

Friday, December 18th, 2009

A woman in Jamaica used a piece of wooden board to hit another woman because she had bad breath, and the woman had not wanted to talk to her because of it.  She hit the woman with a board when she was walking in Seaview Gardens in Kingston, and the woman hit suffered bruises and swelling to her mouth. The Corporate Area Resident Magristrate’s Court may have the woman serve six months in jail or have to pay a $6,000 fine.

The attacker had told the court that she has been suffering from the other woman’s halitosis for seven years.  According to the Jamaica Observer, she said, “Your honour, I have been suffering for some time now because of this woman. She has bad breath and she loves to talk in people’s faces and I warn her not to talk in my face.

She also added, “…but I didn’t really hit her, she came up in my face and I had piece of wood in my hand and I pushed it in her face and it caught her on her mouth.”

In turn, the RM said “…and for that, you will pay $6,000 or serve six months,” causing the people in the courtroom to laugh.

It’s never alright to hit someone with a wooden board for having bad breath, but they should have used TheraBreath!

bad breath
Do you want to get rid of your smelly breath? Read and try some of the following tips. Banish bad breath today.

1. Keep hydrated with water. Bad breath can be caused by dry mouth.
2. Gargle with TheraBreath Oral Rinse. This can be a long-lasting halitosis cure.
3. Have a meal that comes with ginger, basil, parsley, or mint leaves.
4. Try eating a Waldorf salad with extra apple. Apples can help freshen your breath and remove pieces of food stuck between your teeth.
5. A LITTLE bit of whiskey can help kill the bad breath-causing bacteria on your teeth and mask small amounts of malodor. However, do not have too much, since breath worsens with the more alcohol consumed.
6. Scrape your tongue! Sometimes you might have a white coating on your tongue, particularly if you have a thrush infection. If you’re out and about, you could sneak off with a spoon to scrape your tongue if you do not have a tongue scraper available.
7. Rinsing your mouth with water can also help combat halitosis. You can also use a paper towel to rub your teeth.
