Bad Breath and the Movies

Whether it’s date night with your partner, or going with a group a friends, the movies offer us a perfect two hour break from the real world. However, even if you are maintaining a healthy oral care routine, bad breath might accompany all of the delicious, sugary, buttery, cheesy munchies you can purchase at the concession stand.  We suggest packing some TheraBreath French Kiss Gum or Mouth Wetting Lozenges to help combat funky breath after you’re done with the popcorn. Or better yet, be proactive with probiotics and try TheraBreath’s Aktiv-K12 Probiotics which actually remove and then replace the undesirable anaerobic bacteria that cause bad breath.

Bad breath is very common and for many, a part of daily life (because they haven’t tried TheraBreath products yet). We can find references to halitosis on both the big and small screen. Here are a few you might have seen:

Gone with the Wind – as we have discussed in another article, Clark Gable was known for his foul breath. It was so bad that Gable’s co-star Viven Leigh often complained about it.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone – as avid Harry Potter fans already know, the twelfth use of dragon’s blood is as a cure for stinky breath.

Animal House – this classic opens with Kent “Flounder” Dorffman checking his breath before the big rush party. Flounder’s breath isn’t the only thing that keeps people away from him.

Princess Bride – Inigo Montoya’s breath reeks so strongly of alcohol and foulness that it almost knocks over Andre the Giant. Alcoholic drinks often lead to dry mouth, which often causes offensive breath.

Glee – Emma Pilsbury “a girl who knows her solvents” warns Kurt that his breath smells like rubbing alcohol.

Family Guy – Stewie is told that his breath smells like kitty litter, to which he replies “I was curious!”

So while bad breath is often used as an insult or for a laugh in the movies and on television, make sure you aren’t a victim of halitosis by using TheraBreath products daily.
